Obituary of Patricia Nash Wanzenried

Patricia Nash Wanzenried, 84, of Forty Fort, PA, formerly of Rome, passed away at home on Friday, January 25, 2019. She was born in Rome, NY, on August 10, 1934, daughter of the late Alfonso and Mary Cuilla Nasci. Pat was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On April 7, 1956 she married, Ernest Wanzenried in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away, September 30, 2005. Early in their marriage, Pat and Ernie owned and operated a popular local landmark, the Canopy Drive-In. It was after this phase of their lives together that Pat and Ernie began their traveling days. They lived in many different parts of the country before winding up in Pennsylvania where Pat retired from her job as a Purchasing Agent for the Veterans Administration in Butler, PA. Following Ernest's death in 2005, Pat moved to eastern Pennsylvania to be closer to her daughters. Pat was a strong, intelligent and kind person who was well liked by everyone she touched. She will be sorely missed by many who have had the privilege of knowing her. Pat is survived by her three daughters and their families: Cindy and Mark Malkemes and children Nicholas and Nina; Julie Wanzenried and her son Chance; and Jamie Wanzenried and fiancé Joseph Brown and daughter Calleigh. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was the last surviving member of her family. Pat was predeceased by her husband Ernest, parents, Alfonso and Mary Cuilla Nasci; brothers; Louis Nash, James Nash, John Nash, Samuel Nash, and Sandro Nasci, and sisters; Concetta Lazzara and Nancy Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd, Rome, NY, on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
