Obituary of Barth J. Register

Barth John Register, 87, of Rome, passed away peacefully at his home on February 14, 2019. He was born in Queens, NY, on September 16, 1931, to the late Fred and Jeroma Biocich Register. Barth lost the love of his life, Ann ("Jackie") Zollner, who passed away in March 26, 2018. They had been happily married for 61 years.
Barth proudly served in the United States Navy from 1949-1953. He was a member of the Lee American Legion Post 1794. Barth was a supervisor in Air traffic Control for the FAA at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome.
Barth was often described as kind, interesting, and funny. He loved fishing, hunting, and walking outdoors. Barth had a lifelong love of learning. He enjoyed educational TV and was a supporter of PBS. He especially liked learning about all things related to science and nature. His other interests included: politics, art, history, and travel, to name a few. He loved a wide variety of music including opera, Cajun, and classical.
Barth was a fun and loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by a daughter, Jean Lovett and her husband, Dusty Shields (Rome) his sons, Stephen Register (Camden, NY), and Thomas Register, and his wife Tammy (Texas), His grandchildren include: Derek Register, and his wife, Lacey (Camden); Kevin Lovett, and his wife Melanie (Saratoga Springs); Kelsey Lovett (Rome); Kailey Register (Louisiana); Bryce Register (Louisiana), and one great grandchild, Conrad (Louisiana). Other significant people include: Delona Register, Julie Murphy, Tim Lovett, the Nanthesene, Newcomb, and Nouvong families, as well as his many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jackie, a sister, Gladys and a brother Fred.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Roswell Oncology Staff in Oneida. Barth called you his "infusion family". Thank you to the Hospice Staff for your support and care in his last week.
Funeral Services will be private with Military Honors. There are no calling hours. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
