Obituary of David J. Schillaci
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David J. Schillaci, 91, of Rome, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 28, 2019 and is now reunited with the love of his life, his wife Angeline. He was born in Rome, NY, to the late Philip and Salvatora Schillaci on February 28, 1928. On January 12, 1952 he married Angeline Corigliano in St. John the Baptist Church. Angie passed away on April 19, 2014. David was retired from Rome Developmental Disabilities Services Office (DDSO).
David enjoyed being with both sides of his extended family. Sundays were a gathering of family members to have a cup of coffee and talk about anything that happened in Rome that previous week. We will certainly miss those special days. David also enjoyed his garden! When he was having difficulty with being able to get down to plant and weed, his nephews Brian and Phillip Schillaci built a raised garden for him. The family is so appreciative for all that they did for "Uncle Davie".
David is survived by a sister, Angie Schillaci, brother- in- law and sisters- in- law, Peter and Isabelle Corigliano, Annie Corigliano, Catherin Corigliano, Carm Corigliano as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly. David is predeceased by his wife, his sisters, Rose Lorusso, Josephine Ortolano, Grace Schillaci, Mary Schillaci and Pauline Mazzaferro and his brothers ;Salvatore Schillaci, Frank Schillaci and Joseph Schillaci. David also is predeceased by fifteen brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to his very dear friend, Mike Hluska, who checked in on him daily. Thank you to Cathy Destito, Loretta Pugliese and Christine Ensenat, for being loving and caring nieces.
