Kathryn "Katie" Raiti, 93, of Rome, passed away peacefully at Rome Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility on Friday, February 21, 2020. She was born in Rome, NY, the daughter of the late Dominick and Concetta Maio DeAngelo on November 2, 1926. She was united in marriage to Santo Raiti on June 7, 1947, at St. John the Baptist Church. They shared 36 years together until his passing in 1983. Katie worked at Rome Memorial Hospital for forty years. After her retirement, she continued to work at Rome Memorial Hospital as a volunteer for several years. Katie was known for her ability to make others laugh and her amazing meatballs. She enjoyed spending time with and cooking for her family, especially her "best friend" her daughter Susan. Katie was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Katie is survived by her two sons; Rosario Raiti, of Columbia, MO, Robert Raiti, of Canastota, and daughter, Susan Raiti, Glen Gardner, NJ, daughter-in-law, Debra Raiti, Clayton, NC and a son-in-law, Mike Murphy, Lee Center, a dear niece and nephew, Amy and Mike Garcia, grandchildren; Gene Raiti, Lea Raiti- Belt, Amy Raiti-Wise, Heather McAuliffe, Laura Raiti-Corbett, Jeffery Raiti, Marianne Murphy, William Murphy, Patrick Murphy and Madison Garcia, as well as eighteen great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Louise DeAngelo and Jean DeAngelo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Murphy, a sister and brother-in law, Mickalena "Mickey" and Al Garcia, brother and sister-in law Bernard and Ann DeAngelo, brothers: Louis DeAngelo and Dominick DeAngelo, a sister-in law Ann Salerno. The family wishes to express special thanks and appreciation to the Staff of Rome Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility, 3 North for the special care and compassion given to Katie and her family during her residency. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Monday, February 24, 2020, from 4-7 p.m. Spring burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
