James C. Meade, 64, of Rome, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020, due to a long battle with cancer. He was born in Syracuse, NY, on May 6, 1955, son of the late Robert F. and Ellen E. Richards Meade. Jim worked as a union laborer and also worked for local auto detailing businesses. He loved fishing and being outdoors. Surviving are two sons; William Libby, CO, James Meade, Jr., AZ, two grandchildren; Luna Libby and Elizath Libby. Also surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law; Suellen Meade and Neil Combs, NC, Patricia Meade Catello, Rome, Elizabeth Stone and her husband Emmett Sansouci, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law; Raymond and Linda Plunkett, John and Marcia Plunkett and Robert Scott Meade, all of NY, and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert "Bob" Plunkett. Jim was a "Free Bird" if you'd like to remember Jim, listen to the song Free Bird by Lynard Skynyrd. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Hospice nurses Melissa, Josh and Ashley. Thank you to Shirley Perrigo for all of her help during this difficult time and Suellen Meade Combs for always being there to talk and listen. Thank you to all of Jim's family for their love and support. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the Rome Rescue Mission, 411 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY 13440.
