Frank A. Belmont Frank A. Belmont, 93, of Rome, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Betsy Ross Nursing Home. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on January 26, 1916, son of the late Francisco and Antoinetta Belmont. Frank was educated in Rome schools. On June 1, 1940, he married Mary Steve in Transfiguration Church. She passed away October 29, 1988. Mr. Belmont retired from Rome State School and was a former employee of General Cable. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Rome Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Men's Garden Club of Rome and Rome Toccolana Club. Over the years, he held leadership positions in several bowling leagues, including past president of the Rome Bowling Association. In 1990, he was inducted into the Rome Bowling Hall of Fame. Surviving are two daughters, Cassandra Huchko, Plainville, CT, Carol Belmont, Albany N.Y.; two grandchildren, Michael M. Huchko, U.S. Air Force, and Veronica L. Lex, N.J.; four great grandchildren, Elaine, Sarah, Meghan and Katherine. Also surviving are a brother, Louis Schipano, Rome; three sisters, Palma Ciotti, Rome, Mary DeBonzo, Alabama, Caroline Versace, Rome; a sister-in-law, Frances Gibbons, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a former son-in-law and friend, Michael Huchko, Rome. Frank was predeceased by three sisters, Nora Haritatos, Rose Cardillo and Michaelina Belmont; four brothers, Gaetano Belmont, Patsy Belmont, Peter Belmont and Anthony Schipano. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Thursday from 9-10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
