Nancy J. Carissimo, 87, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, after a brief illness. She was born in Rome, NY, on January 19, 1933, daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Mary Lapin Balog. Nancy attended Rome Schools and Beautician School. On June 11, 1955 she married Salvatore "Sam" Carissimo in St. Peter's Church. He passed away on January 30, 2009. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Rome, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was the owner of Nancy's Hair World and was involved in numerous community events throughout her life. Nancy was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Nancy is survived by her beloved family, two sons, Craig (Tina) Carissimo, Tampa, FL, and Scott Carissimo, Rome, three grandsons; Jonathan (Liz)Carissimo, Dylan Carissimo and (girlfriend Zoe), Tampa, FL, Tory (Liz)Carissimo, Canandaigua, NY, two granddaughters; Jenna (Brian) LaRocca, Canandaigua, NY, and Meghan Carissimo and (boyfriend Robert), Whitesboro, six great-grandchildren; Luca, Adelina and Giuliana Carissimo, Isabella, Michael and Arianna LaRocca, Canandaigua, NY. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Kay Balog and family, Rome, several nieces, nephew, friends and her beloved poodle, Dusty. She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore"Sam" Carissimo, her parents, Charles Sr. and Mary Balog and her brother Charles Balog. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Services will be private. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd.
