Obituary of Michael F. Mercoldie

Michael F. Mercoldie, 83, of Lee Center, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Rome, NY, on June 26, 1937, son of the late Louis and Susanna Roman Mercoldie. Mike attended Rome schools. He served with the U.S. Army from 1960 – 1966. On October 7, 1967 he married Dolores M. Zane in St. Agnes Church, Utica. Mike managed several Great American Grocery Stores throughout the area, retiring as a store manager from the Boonville store. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Lee Center, Lee Legion, Oneida Lake Association and served on the Board of Directors of Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. Surviving besides his wife, Dolores, are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. Mercoldie and Andrea Sy, Riverview, FL, two grandchildren; Christina Mercoldie and Autumn Mercoldie and a step-grandaughter, Khanh Luu. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Thomas Larkin, Lee Center and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Richard Louis Mercoldie, a brother, Ernest Mercoldie, his twin sister, Rosemary Clements, and his sister, Priscella Carlone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church, Lee Center, with the Rev. Robert L. Kelly officiating. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Wednesday July 1, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. Anyone who wishes to attend is asked to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
