Obituary of Sara Godwin Carpenter

Sara Godwin Carpenter, 75, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at St. Luke's Health Care, New Hartford. She was born in Watertown, N.Y. on February 27, 1945, daughter of the late Harry Aubrey and Florence Wilson Godwin. Sara graduated from Rome Free Academy class of 1963. On November 27, 1965, she married Welcome L Carpenter, in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away, April 14, 2012. Sara retired from Central New York Psychiatric Center, where she was employed for over 20 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Francis Falvo, two grandchildren, Theresa Falvo and Amanda Falvo, all of Rome, sister-in law, Mary Jo Godwin, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Welcome, a brother, Aubrey Godwin, a sister, Mary Von Bargen, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Alida and Roger A. Miller, Sr., a nephew, Roger A. Miller, Jr., and a brother-in-law, John Arcuri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 12:00 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J.
