Delores "Dee" C. Barber, 92, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2020, at Sitrin Health Care, New Hartford. She was born on July 2, 1928 in Rome, NY, daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Stevens Barber. Delores was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class of 1947. Dee retired from Rome Strip Steel as an Executive Secretary after forty-one years of employment. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church. Delores was an avid bowler, participating in many bowling leagues and she was a member of Secretaries Club of Rome. Surviving is a brother, Thomas S. Barber, Sr., Rome, a sister, Joan Massoud, Utica and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Delores was predeceased by a sister, Rosemarie Nasci and a brother, John Barber. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the Sitrin Rehabilitation Unit, for their care and compassion shown to Delores. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
