Obituary of Barbara A. Parker

Barbara A. Parker, 80, of Rome, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020, at St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford, NY. She was born in Rome, NY, on November 8, 1939, daughter of the late, Andrew and Elizabeth Corigliano Esposito. Barbara graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1957. On October 17, 1959 she married Richard J. Parker, in St. John the Baptist Church. Barbara retired as a teacher's assistant at Madison-Oneida BOCES, Verona. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and was an avid bowler.
Surviving besides her husband, Richard, are two sons and daughters-in- law; Richard M. and Eileen Parker, New York Mills, Thomas A. and Kati Parker, Oneida, a daughter, Joy Schneider, Rome, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law; Barbara Esposito, Syracuse, Donna Guerrieri, Rome, Judith Parker, Lee Center and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard L. Esposito.
Barbara made so many cherished friends from childhood to the present. She leaves behind many work friends and her special group of high school friends, including her "girls club". A special thank you to Barbara's most recent new friend, Shannon, who took care of her at the end.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 11:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Anyone wishing to attend is required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's name to: American Cancer Society, 110 Lomond Ct., Utica, NY 13502.
