Buel 'Okie' O. Braudrick Buel "Okie" O. Braudrick, 81, of Rome, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Caddo, Oklahoma on July 23, 1928, son of the late Buel O. and Vera Braudrick. Okie served with the U.S. Army. On June 26, 1946, he married Shirley A. Hawkins in Syracuse, N.Y. She passed away December 29, 1995. Okie was a service manager for several local auto dealerships. He was a member of H.P. Smith Post #24 American Legion, V.F.W. Rome Post #2246 and Rome Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Shari and Richard Hitchings, Rome, Jacqueline and Joseph Howard Jr., Canton, MI, Ellie and Tom McCormick, Rome; six grandchildren, Robert, Chelesa, Shelbi, Ashley, Amanda and Taylor; great grandchildren, Kain and Priscilla. Also surviving are three brothers, Buddy Braudrick, Bill Braudrick and Benny Braudrick, all of Oklahoma; three sisters, June Sharpe, Oklahoma, Jerry Arambula, Oklahoma, and Joan Ellis, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Drs. Ramineni and Potluri, Sherry and the staff of Dr. Dutala, and the staff of 2 North at Rome Memorial Hospital, ICU and respiratory therapy for their extra ordinary care. The family also thanks Angelo Malone, John Belius and John DeHimer for being great friends for many years. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 507 Kent St., Utica, N.Y. 13501.
