Patsy Calandra, 94 of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome, NY, on June 2, 1926, the son of the late Clement and Palma Surace Calandra. On June 2, 1951 at St. John the Baptist Church he married Grace Grifasi, a blessed union of 42 years. He was a graduate of Rome Schools and proudly served in World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. Patsy was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base for many years, was co-owner of Pat & Lou's Variety store, and was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Patsy is survived by his beloved family, daughters Deborah (Robert) DiCaprio and Linda (Anthony) Spado, all of Rome, his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jennifer (Adam), and Michael Guhin, Jeffrey (Jennifer) DiCaprio, A.J. (Megan), Savannah and Benjamin Spado, all of Rome, and Christie (Mike), Ethan and Liliana Kerr, Huntersville, NC. He was predeceased by his wife Grace, his in-laws Gaetano and Assunta Grifasi, his parents, his eight brothers and sisters, and many other close relatives with whom he shared many fond memories. The family would like to thank the staff at the Terrace at Woodland for his great care for the past six years and would also like to acknowledge the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital who provided excellent care and were with him at the end. Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
