James V. Marcelletta, Jr., 65, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica. He was born in Rome, NY, on October 22, 1955, son of the late James V. and Lena B. Aquino Marcelletta. Jim was a graduate of Westmoreland High School. He was a retired Corrections Officer from Mohawk Correctional Facility in Rome. Jim was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Toccolana Club and several fish and game clubs. Surviving are his cousins; Karen and Gary Sauer, Lorraine Calicchia, and David Aquino, all of Rome, Renee Mills, CA, Linda and Anthony DeProspero, Rome, Albert Frisillo, Roxanne Woods, FL, and Emy and William McCarthy, Remsen. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Lena Marcelletta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 12:00 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Private burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, on Friday, September 10, 2021,(today) from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to a charity of one's choice.
