Richard Wayne Coon, 80, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Rome Hospital. He was born on August 13, 1941, in Syracuse, NY, son of Wendel and Mary Coon. In February 1982, he married the love of his life, Devon DeLutis Gannon. They were happily together for over 40 years. Richard was a retired teacher from the Rome City School District and a former employee of H & R Block. He was an avid golfer at Teugega, soccer referee, and bowler. His passions were Syracuse University football and Yankees. Surviving in addition to his wife, Devon, are his sons Thomas and wife Jacqueline Gannon, Shaun and wife Erin Gannon of Rome and his daughter, Ashley and husband Matthew Robinson of Fairport. His grandchildren are Christina, Taylor, Isabella, Thomas, Collin, Jocelyn, Luca, Lillian, and Lucy. Two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Deacon. He was predeceased by his parents, Wendel and Mary Coon. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be private.
