My deepest sympathies to Carolyn, Frank, brother Alan and family,
I remember Elinore and Sal as a special couple that visited the Ava Dorfman Senior Center in the 1980's. I was Elinore's sewing instructor at the center and was always amazed by her creative use of fabric as she designed it into stylish clothes. Sal would often accompany Elinore to the center, and I saw his equally debonair style, always wearing a hat and sport coat or suit. My memory of them both was 'Classic Chic'.
But more importantly, it was evident to all who knew them that they were a couple who were devoted and loved each other. My husband and I were honored to have been invited to attend their Wedding Anniversary held at the Beeches. It was a special time for them and a special memory for me. I have been blessed with their kindnesses and love. I am glad to have known them and that Elinore's and Sal's paths crossed mine, if ever so briefly. I will always hold them in a special place in my heart.

Today, our beloved Aunt Elinore joined her husband, Salvatore, in eternal rest. We read these two poems at Ferncliff Cemetery to mark her passing:
Broken Chain
By Ron Tranner
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
Finding You in Beauty
By Walter Rindor
The rays of light filtered through
The sentinels of trees this morning.
I sat in the garden and contemplated.
The serenity and beauty
Of my feelings and surroundings
Completely captivated me.
I thought of you.
I discovered you tucked away
In the shadows of the trees.
Then, rediscovered you
In the smiles of the flowers.
As the sun penetrated their petals
In the rhythm of the leaves
Falling in the garden
In the freedom of the birds
As they fly searching as you do.
I’m very happy to have found you,
Now you will never leave me
For I will always find you in the beauty of life.

The past 30 years have the best years of my my life. Not only because Carolyn has been my wife during that stretch of time but because as a result of in marrying her, the door opened to my knowing and loving her Aunt Elinore who graced my heart and soul with genuine kindness and joy.
Aunt Elinore sincerely meant it when she asked me, “How are you doing, my dear?” I can say unequivocally that I never knew anyone like her who was as gentle and tolerant and always saw the good in people. She never expressed anger even during unpleasant encounters with uncivil individuals, incidents that would drive the rest of us to curse. Not Elinore. When flustered (which was rare), she would simply say, “Oh, Dear!” When others stooped low, Elinore looked high, a lady through and through.
I will forever treasure the happy memories of when Carolyn and I spent Memorial Day weekends with her in Rome to celebrate her birthday which was on May 30 and, especially in 2015 when she decided to mark her 90th milestone birthday in her native Brantford, Ontario, Canada. She absolutely glowed, surrounded by those who were on hand to honor her. The photograph of her on this post was taken on that special day. See what I mean when I say she glowed?
She wasn’t religious. But, all I know with absolute certainty that it was HEAVEN HERE ON EARTH when God gave us Aunt Elinore to love and cherish always. Frank Pagani

My Aunt Elinore was one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever known. Elegance and grace defined her and to know her was to love her. You are much loved and will be sorely missed. Heaven’s gain is our loss. Rest In Peace dear loving Aunt.
Your Loving Niece, Carolyn
